Vissla High Seas II Wetsuit

Neoprene and Liners

The High Seas II is covered with I-Foam neoprene (or, as Vissla calls it, “Ridiculous Rubber”). It is the strongest, lightest, and stretchiest Japanese limestone-based neoprene offered by Vissla. Made from limestone and upcycled oyster shells, I-Foam is significantly more eco-friendly than competitor neoprenes. The high-performance rubber and design allow for the full range of motion without any restrictions. With the flexibility properties of the neoprene, you might forget that you even have a wetsuit on.

Along with I-Foam, Vissla incorporates thermal fever lining on the inside of the suit, offering flexibility, insulating heat, and a fast drying time. A quick-drying wetsuit is a huge benefit. For all you dawn patrol surfers, you know that climbing into a damp suit on a chilly morning isn’t an enjoyable experience.

Seams and Stitching

Vissla has you covered when it comes to durable stitching. The High Seas II uses the strongest minimalistic seams and stitching possible. Each seam throughout the suit is triple glued and blind stitched. With inner and outer glued seams, the seams hold up well to the abrasive salt water.

It also includes stitch-less outer arm seams for a superior stretch, which helps the High Seas II compete with the best of the best in terms of flexibility. Along with the glued seams, Vissla uses Neo 3.0 tape on the inside for maximum seam sealing and durability.

Fit and Cut

The High Seas II's fit is standard compared to other brands. However, we’ve found Vissla to run on the shorter side. The best way to find the correct size is to call one of our wetsuit experts.

The suit is produced with anatomically engineered body lines and fewer seams, which improves flexibility and comfort. One of my favorite underrated features is the liquid-cuffed seals on the wrists and ankles. The liquid seals prevent flushing and keep the suit in place when navigating powerful surf.

Entry and Zipper

There are two different entry styles on the High Seas II wetsuit: chest zip and zip-free. The zip-free option is offered in 3/2 and 4/3, while the chest zip is offered in 3/2, 4/3, and 5/4 thicknesses. Depending on personal preference and whether you need a hood can help determine what thickness is best for you.

The zip-free entry is less likely to flush while duck diving, but it is harder to put on and take off due to the smaller entry opening. The chest zip is easier to get on and off but isn’t as free-flowing as the zip-free because of the extra material for the zipper.

The chest zip option includes a pre-attached zipper and zips from right to left with the suit on. This is an invaluable feature for Vissla to include. I’ve noticed some surfers get turned away from certain brands that don't include a pre-attached zipper.

Performance

The ultra-light High Seas II is the highest-performing eco-friendly wetsuit offered by Vissla. It excels in comfort and flexibility. Based on the material, construction, and fit, Vissla knows how to satisfy surfers wanting to push their skills to the next level. The thermal liner and drainage system won’t let you down, keeping you warm no matter what Mother Nature throws your way.

With the I-Foam neoprene and Ridiculous Rubber, this is the stretchiest wetsuit made by Vissla. The stitch-less arms improve the wetsuit's stretch, warmth, and durability.

If you're unsure what model is best for you, look below at the recommended thicknesses depending on the water temperature in your area.

Wetsuit Thickness Water Temperature in F Water Temperature in C
3/2 56-65 F 13-18 C
4/3 51-58 F 11-14 C
5/4 44-53 F 8-12 C

Value and Durability

With a mid-level price tag of $309-390, you can expect this wetsuit to perform well for you. For the price, you are getting high-quality features. Not many brands offer a suit that includes triple glued blind-stitched, highly flexible neoprene, and internally taped seams for under $400.

The eco-friendly properties, such as the limestone-based I-Foam neoprene, recycled jersey, and water-based lamination, add to the value of this wetsuit. Another key feature that makes this suit well worth the price is the warmth and comfort of the Thermal Fever Fiber lining.

Vissla does everything it can to eliminate its carbon footprint. That is why they use Dope Dyed Fabric jersey and AquaA water-based lamination that is entirely solvent-free—made by Bluesin-approved mills.

Customer Feedback

“Very warm, stretchy, and comfortable. The chest zipper doesn't need threading. No binding or pull points. Lining is warm and dries quickly. Low price for top quality.”

- TCC

“Very warm, thick towards the legs, and buttery neoprene. I always like limestone neoprene; very well made with appropriate neoprene for each body part. The price was right too and the quality as good or better than more famous brand suits. Definitely warmer than my 6/5/4 Rip Curl Flashbomb and stretchier. Icing is that I found an XLT which fits me like a glove.”
