Staff Says Cleanline Staff Matt Says:

"O'Neill's Epic 4/3 Back Zip is affordable and packed full of high end materials and features. O'Neill does not skimp even on their entry level wetsuits and it is apparent in the Epic. Recently upgraded to 100% UltraFlex Neoprene, it's pretty hard to tell the difference between this stuff and the neoprene other brands are using in their high end suits. I like the ease of entry provided by O'Neill's back zip entry. It's the way to go if you have broad shoulders or just want something that isn't a struggle to take on and off. The Epic 4/3 wetsuit will keep you warm down to the mid/low 50's and up to the low 60's depending on your preference. Definitely a great wetsuit and a suit to consider!"

best fit

I've been buying O'Neil suits for about 30 years. I unusual body dimensions (6'2", 240, 52"chest, 35" waist), and O'Neil and Patagonia suits are the only brands that fit me well enough.

Great value, just what I wanted

Bought the LS, 5'7", 172lb, big shoulders, slim pelvis. I got the suit for winter swimming/water running. I have a thinner, more expensive swimming wetsuit, but did not want to pay $400+ for a winter suit. This works great for me. Keeps me warm (water is 52 degrees), not too buoyant, and great fit. Still pretty flexible in the arms too, I can freestyle and backstroke fine for 30mins without chaffing. Seems well made, but I've only worn it 5-6 times so far. And, all for a tad over $200! What's not to love....Oh, Cleanline Surf, shipped promptly, no issues, and a few goodies thrown in. Great customer service!

Average wetsuit but reasonable price

This is one of O'Neill's lower end suits, so don't expect much as far as quality goes (neck/back are loose, seams starting to fray after 3 weeks of use, will keep you warm at 60 degrees F or warmer), though for it's price it's a pretty good deal.

Average Wetsuit - Above Average Service

Overall, I'm disappointed with this wetsuit. I initially had issues trying to zip up the suit when first trying on. However, with help from the Cleanline staff I managed to get it zipped without too much hassle before going out yesterday (10/14/21) in north San Diego County. But the real disappointment arrived when I was out in the water. After about 40 minutes I started to get really cold (and I wasn't just sitting out there either; did a lot of paddling). The water temp was 60-62, and I have never experienced getting cold that soon at that temp in my old 4/3 Hyperflex. Folks contemplating buying this suit should be aware that there is no lining on the back of the suit, just on the chest, which I think is a big mistake. While the neoprene is flexible, I would advise against buying it. There are better wetsuits out there at around the same price point (e.g., Buell) that do a better job of keeping you warm within the range stated at the top of this page (low 50s-60s).

Great suit

Excellent suit. The water entry points (hands, ankles, neck) seal so well that I have days where very little water gets into the suit and some of the chest even stay dry! (snorkeling). I got a medium and it is probably a little roomy in the chest because I'm long and thin, but still a great fit: 5 9'', 154 lbs for your reference.
